“Crimean Federal University named after V. I. Vernadsky”


Physico - technical Institute of Crimean Federal University named after V. I. Vernadsky is a structural unit having almost century long history of formation and development.

First lectures for students of physics were delivered by A. F Ioffe in Taurida University in 1918. Future Nobel Prize laureates I. E Tamm, I. M Frank, outstanding scientists Ya. I. Frenkel, professor Oglobin N. V., professor Afanasyeva-Erenfest T. A. worked at this University. Academician I. V. Kurchatov, corresponding members of Academy K. I Tschelkin and K. I. Sinelnikov studied and graduated from this university.

Physico - technical Institute is a legal successor of these glorious traditions and at the same time is one of the youngest subdivisions of the University; on 01.06.2015 it was formed on the basis of Physics and Computer Technologies Faculty of Taurida National Vernadsky University, Energy- supply and Physics Department of the Academy of Building and Architecture, Medical Physics and Informatics Department of Medical Academy named after S. I. Georgievsky, Scientific Center of Functional Materials and Nanotechnologies of Scientific Research Department of Taurida National Vernadsky University

The principle of the formation of Physico- technical Institute is integration of science, education and innovations in the fields of Physics, Techniques, Information Technologies and Programming, and other Technologies.

At the present time Physico- technical Institute is a dynamically developing educational institution incorporating about 1000 students studying according to the programs of undergraduate schools, MA course and post-graduate course.

More than 150 people work here, among them there are 90 professors and teachers/lecturers, Doctors of physics and mathematics, more than 55 Docents, Candidates of sciences and 20 scientific researchers, new laboratories and scientific-educational centers.
